What is Tradeable Art?
While your child’s artwork hanging on the fridge is certainly a masterpiece, it’s probably not tradeable.
"Tradeable” refers to artist works for which there’s an active secondary market, and therefore can’t include all artists nor all works of art. ARTBnk defines tradable art as “investment grade,” meaning that the artist’s work is sold at public auction multiple times a year.
Why is this important? Accurate valuation require a significant, consistent data set in order to identify trends as well as outliers.
